Cala Millor is one of the biggest resort towns on the island of Majorca. Situated on the island’s northeast coast, the city is called the “better bay” (in comparison to the nearby Cala Bona, the “good bay”). Once a sleepy seaside town, Cala Millor has blossomed into a popular destination for tourists.
Though the beach is the focal point of Cala Millor, the city has a lot to offer. The pedestrian-friendly streets are lined with cafes and shops. Be sure to sample some of the authentic Spanish tapas restaurants. At the end of the main street, there are gypsy horse carriages that will take you around Cala Millor’s many sights. Renting a bicycle is another great way to explore the town.
To the south, the Punta d’Amer nature reserve makes up one of the borders of the bay, and is a nice walk from the beach. Hike through dunes and pine forests to the Castell de n’Amer Watchtower. This landmark dates back to the 17th century. The remote but lovely café beside it offers magical views over the bay.
Cala Millor is a family-friendly town that offers a lot of activities for kids. Fantasy Park on Passeig Cristofol Colom has bouncy castles, trampolines, and other outdoor rides. It is located just next to the Parc de la Mar gardens. Karting Cala Millor is a go-kart track on Avenida Es’Carrero where kids can rent different karts depending on their age and experience.
Bordering the beach, the pedestrian-friendly promenade offers everything vacation-goers could want, from outdoor restaurants and cafes to souvenir and beach shops. When the daytime tourists go to bed, the prom comes alive with Cala Millor’s most popular nightclubs.
Though there are a lot of things to do and see in Cala Millor, the number one attraction is the beach. About 2 km of pale golden sand stretch along the turquoise waters of the shallow bay, which is kept calm by the rocky headlands to the north and south. The beach is filled with lounge chairs and straw umbrellas for rent where tourists sun themselves and relax. Watersports are popular, as are glass-bottom boat tours out into the bay.
